I quote from Martin Luther King, Jr:
The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.
I believe schools are still churning out students who are exams smart and where memorization is a must, not to mention doing 10 year series. Does that help us to have intelligence plus character? Good memory does not equate to intelligence. It's only part of it. Character building is also usually imparted through the teachers themselves. I do not believe that it can be taught or forced upon.
Is being a good teacher difficult? Absolutely.

True education should be imparted by both teachers and parents. And they should stop giving teachers admin work that's out of their scope... And i don't see how lengthening the school hours help the teachers or students.
Not forgetting that they always use the term "increasing productivity" as an excuse.
It's more like asking you to do things to distract you from your original job scope.
