Nearby construction site causing my house temperature to spike up

There has been some construction going on near my area and I find that my house is generally quite warm throughout the day/night. The funny thing is upon checking with some of my friends living around the same area (within 1-2km), I was the only one having this problem.

I'm not trained in building construction but if I remember my secondary school lessons, concrete, brick and stone have been used in the building industry for their ability to absorb solar heat and slowly release it. It has been used in the winter countries to retain heat within the house.

Therefore, my reasoning is that as the painting has not been done for the new development, the concrete has been absorbing the heat and slowly releasing it, thereby causing my house's temperature to spike up as it is quite near the site. Painting in a way reflects the heat so that it is not absorbed by the concrete.

Did I guess correctly? Hmm...

Your speculation is right. There are actually home remedies that you can do if your room gets too warm. Try to put a lot of plants around your house, they help absorb heat and allow for good air circulation since they absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen.

I do know about the oxygen but how do the plants absorb the heat?
