Under the scheme, the HDB leaves a 30-year lease for the household and buys the remaining lease at market valuation under the Lease Buyback scheme. The money goes into a CPF Life annuity in the owner's name and he gets a monthly payout for life.
The problem? What if you outlive the 30 year lease?
The solution? Allow the owner to continue staying in the house, with the restriction that the house cannot be sold, and can only be retaken by HDB.
With this, I believe the take-up may be higher. Think so?
