After Hong Kong's landmark ruling on a minimum wage which I wrote here, it seems like Malaysia is also getting into the ball game. The bill for the minimum wage has already been gazetted and came into effect on Sep 23. So the question for Malaysia is not how but rather when.
I guess Malaysia has realised that they better listen to the problems of the people. If you need $x to survive in the country, then the jobs in that country jolly well pay $x. If it doesn't, then I guess innovation has to come in. That's the way it goes. That's called life.
We work to live, not live to work. Now, when is it Singapore's turn?

Recent report on UK suggested that minimum wage may lead to further unemployment esp amongst young.
"We work to live, not live to work."
Take our ex-MM Lee Kuan Yew. He is 88 years old, with a minister's pension and is senior adviser to GIC and an mp. He does not need a minimum wage as he has more than one job. If your day job do not pay enough, take a second job! There are enough employment opportunities around. Our paradise island has no room for bums who want it easy with a minimum wage that will cause unemployment. (Many Singaporeans and I, will be more than happy to take to the streets to demand the introduction of minimum wage if that can cause LKY to be unemployed!)
Saycheese
Like I said in my post, it depends on whose perspective that you look at. UK may be facing higher unemployment because the standard of living is rising too high. Is it worth it to work in a job that doesn't enable you to live? That's where innovation comes in.
Sorry but I find it weird to put "We work to live" to having more than 1 job at a time. That's more like we live to work.
