Be a Realist

I quote from William Arthur Ward:
The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.

This kind of quotes are 'nice' but potentially harmful, putting people into little boxes accoring to one's prejudice. not much different from the boast of LKY that his wife 'is a good judge of character'. How many people have been condemned because his wife did not trust people with slit eyes as people with slit eyes are 'shifty'? Many people complain or hope for the winds to change as they realistically prepare for the challenge at hand. They are not mutually exclusive.

Personally, I believe it is never the intent of the person to mean that the 3 are mutually exclusive. I do not think that they are.

In fact, I do all 3 at the same time. I will complain about the wind, to let off steam, expect it to change, and let reality sinks in and plot a direction to take me towards the change I'm looking for.

There is no need to think of it as mutually exclusive.
