Cadbury World @ Dunedin

I have managed to visit Cadbury World factory tour during my free time in Dunedin in my New Zealand 12 day tour. Below is the the Cadbury factory in Dunedin.

This is what greets you once you enter the premises.

Entrance of Cadbury Factory

There is a small retail shop (you can see the shop in the above picture) within that sells Cadbury chocolates that are cheaper than the retail price. There is also an area on the right-hand side that tells you the history of Cadbury. Below are some of the photos that I've taken in that area.

The Cadbury Factory also conducts tours around it's premises for NZD18 that takes approximately around 75 mins. Few things to note:
  1. No Photo-taking allowed within
  2. No belongings allowed within (A big locker will be provided to contain all your belongings)
  3. No jewelery and watches allowed within

You will get a small little bag that will be filled with chocolates along the way. You will also get to taste hot chocolate from the factory! At the end of the tour, you'll get to see the original Cadbury vehicles used to transport the chocolates. Yes, photo taking is allowed once you're outside the factory. Below were the vehicles used.

Milford Sound

Milford Sound, also known as Piopiotahi, was something that was alien to me before I embarked on my New Zealand 12 day tour. To my surprise, it's also known to some as the Eighth Wonder of the World and it's one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. The tour that I was in included a boat tour that brings us all the way out of the Milford Sound to the big open sea. Below shows the boat that I was in.

Cruise Boat that brings you out along Milford Sound

One thing to note about the boat tour is that food is not included unless it is specifically stated in your boat tour ticket, but you are allowed to bring your own food on board. The sandwiches are quite good though, although it costs NZD4 a piece. Chicken and Cranberry Sandwich. Yum yum. Coffee and Tea are free flow on board.

The boat cruise will navigate along Milford Sound and bring us out to the open sea and back. Below are some of the photos that I've taken on board.

There is another tour called the Doubtful Sound which I heard was quite good too. It is however further away so if you're intending to visit both places, you might want to stay at Te Anau.

Scenery around Fiordland National Park

On my way to Milford Sound in my New Zealand 12 day tour, the tour that I was in made a few interesting photo shooting stops in the Fiordland National Park, some of which I believed is again related to Lord of the Rings (LOTR). Below is a signboard detailing the route that I've taken in one of my stops.

Scenery around Queenstown

"Scenery watching" is one of the main highlights in my New Zealand 12 day tour and in Queenstown, home of the Remarkables mountain range that serves as a stunning backdrop for the town, this is something that should not be missed. The Remarkables is also one of the 3 mountain ranges in the world that runs true north and south, something interesting that I've learned there.

Below are some of the scenery photos that I've taken around the Queenstown area, some of which are related to Lord of the Rings (LOTR). :)

Not much @ Arrowtown

I've visited Arrowtown (near Queenstown) briefly in my New Zealand 12 day tour and my personal opinion is that you can give it a miss as I didn't really find anything of interest. Note that Arrowtown (the mouth of arrow river to be exact) is also one of the sites used in the filming of the Lord of the Rings (Arwen carrying the injured Frodo across the river with the Black Riders close behind). Below is a signboard of what's available in Arrowtown.

Arrowtown Directory

This town retains the rustic settings of a gold town with many of the buildings preserved on the exterior, but modern in the interior. There are a few shops around for shopping but I did not really see anything special that you cannot find in Queenstown. Below are some of the photos I've taken of the surroundings.

Arrowtown main street

I believe it's a souvenir shop. :)

However, there is one shop which I'll highly recommend going to in Arrowtown. That is the only bakery (that I've seen) located at the end of the street. The pies are delicious and I highly recommend the Spicy Curry Hot & Spicy Chicken Pie!
