Just do the following:
- Tap once on the Home / Power button (assuming that your iPhone is blank - optional)
- Tap the Home button twice when you see the screen that allows you to unlock the iPhone.
That's it. You'll be able to control the music without unlocking your iPhone.

Yep, this certainly handy! Since Apple introduced this method, make sure that you are updating your phone regularly. This trick only works for iPhones with software version 1.1.1. Hopefully, Apple will be able to find a way to change the album and playlist without unlocking, too. =)
